CAREERS EDUCATION & GUIDANCE
Our named Careers Leader is Tom Smith, KS4 Leader. He works alongside the other KS Leaders to ensure that all students, where appropriate, get access to meaningful encounters with employers, work experience, vocational opportunities and access to further education providers.
- We have an annual Careers Day, for pupils in the Secondary part of the school, where they can meet professionals from a variety of industries
- In KS3 Careers education is taught through the PSHCE programme
- All students in KS4 and KS5 have careers interviews with an independent careers advisor
- As part of the EHCP process from Year 9 onwards, pupils and their parents share their aspirations for the future and this is included in their plan as part of preparing for adulthood
- KS4 and KS5 students all, where appropriate, have an opportunity to undertake work experience. This is coordinated by Thurrock Lifestyle Solutions
- KS4 and KS5 pupils visit the event ‘Opportunity Thurrock’ where they engage with employers and further and higher education providers
- KS4 and KS5 pupils undertake a vocational option every Friday
- KS5 students undertake additional visits to further and if appropriate higher education providers
